Burglar Sleeps In Bed

A West Point man reported to authorities Friday that a burglar apparently slept in his bed before leaving the premises.

Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to investigate the crime at 136 West Tennessee Street around 7:00 a.m. The resident reported that he had worked overtime at work and returned to his home to discover the burglary.

According to reports, the perpetrator used a rock from a flower bed near the back porch to gain entry. The rock was hurled through a window on the back porch. Reports indicate it struck a china cabinet inside, causing damages.

The resident stated that nothing appeared to be missing, but that it did appear that someone had slept in his bed.

The resident told deputies that the front door, which had been locked when he left, was left open.

Investigation into the incident is continuing. Anyone with information pertinent to the investigation is encouraged to contact the sheriff’s department at 762-3626.
